Honor Flight Returns

We’re excited that the Honor Flight, sponsored by Farmers RECC and members of Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, returned in 2022.

Farmers RECC was proud to sponsor Paul Kirby of Edmonton on the flight on September 17 to see the memorials in Washington, D.C., along with 66 other Kentucky veterans.

This is the 11th Honor Flight Kentucky to be sponsored by Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives. The day included viewing the changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Honor Flight representatives participated in a wreathlaying service at the tomb.

Honor Flight is a critical part of Farmers RECC’s commitment to our community. It’s a privilege to be able to fly these veterans to their memorials, and it’s an opportunity to serve them in some small way to repay their service to our nation and our community.

“Congratulations to our 2022 Honor Flight vets,” says Farmers RECC CEO Bill Prather. “It is our privilege to honor your service to the country by sponsoring Honor Flights. Our goal is to make it a memorable day for our veterans, and this year’s trip was fantastic with great weather and fellowship.”

In addition to the volunteers who served as guardians for the veterans, hundreds of family members welcomed the veterans home at Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport, saluting them with a standing ovation as they returned from the day’s activities in our nation’s capital.
