June 28, 2023 - 6PM Update

Farmers RECC crews have made substantial progress today. Only 611 members remain without power. We expect to have power fully restored by late Friday night, barring any unforeseen complications.

This stage of the restoration process slows due to the nature of the member per outage ratio. In addition, the weather forecast for Thursday includes more rain and chances of storms, which will also slow progress.

We have heard from our members who are upset they haven't seen anyone on their road working. The way the power grid is constructed, it is possible for us to be working several miles away on a problem that will actually get your power restored. We have 25 crews totaling more than 90 individuals working across our service territory.

Several folks have suggested we need to trim trees. Our vegetation management program is robust, and we have several employees and contract crews dedicated to overseeing it. However, some of the trees falling on our lines are outside of our maintained rights-of-way. We also need our members to help us in managing our right-of-way. We know tree trimming isn’t always popular, but we must be allowed to maintain rights-of-way to help ensure reliable service for all of our members. If you know of an area where trees are growing into lines, please contact the office and crews will evaluate and trim those at their earliest opportunity.

We have received questions from members who are receiving daily usage readings despite being without power during that time. Our metering system estimates a daily reading based on your location’s historic usage. If our meters do not receive a reading, they will automatically estimate.  Once power is restored and we regain communications with the meter, it will reset to the actual reading.

We continue to ask all members to avoid any contact with power lines. Always assume that any line is live.

Our employees are committed to our members and won’t stop until all of our members are restored. We know members are weary, we are too, but we are optimistic that we will make good progress today.

Please report outages via our Mobile App, through our Member Center or by calling 270-651-2191. For current outage information, check the Farmers RECC’s Outage Viewer at www.farmersrecc.com and follow us on social media for updates.

We will be migrating to twice daily updates and will send out another update in the morning by 9AM.
