Crews have made good progress today, driving total outage numbers down to 1,800. We know our members without power are frustrated, we are too. We will not stop working until all members are restored.  

Throughout the duration of this outage, crews have discovered additional issues, bringing our broken pole count to 19.  

East Kentucky Power Cooperative has successfully replaced the transformer in the Knob Lick substation, serving Metcalfe County. Our crews will continue working in this area to make necessary repairs for power restoration.  

We are still anticipating power restoration to continue tomorrow. Members who rely on oxygen or other electricity-dependent medical devices may want to make alternate arrangements.  

Some members have expressed concern about their neighbor having power while they do not. This can occur for several reasons. Your home may be served by a different substation, line, or transformer. Damage may also exist at your service line or service connection point. We encourage members to check their panel box to ensure no circuit breakers have tripped. We know it’s frustrating to not know exactly when the power will be back on - it is for us too. Each repair is complex and unique and we will continue to tackle them until everyone has power.

Members may also begin to see daily usage readings today despite being without power. Our metering system estimated daily usage based on historical data when a meter does not communicate. Once power is restored and communication is re-established, the meter will reset to reflect actual usage.
