The Kentucky Chapter of Women in Rural Electrification has selected James Todd Clemmons, a Farmers RECC member from Barren County, as its 2025 W.I.R.E Scholarship recipient. The scholarship recognizes James’s academic achievements, leadership qualities and commitment to his studies.
Expected to graduate in December 2025, Clemmons found renewed strength and motivation to make a better life for him and his son. Majoring in anthropology, Clemmons aspires to become a teacher to help shape young minds in a positive direction.
W.I.R.E scholarships aim to support talented and driven students like Clemmons in their pursuit of higher education. “We are incredibly proud to award this scholarship to James Clemmons,” says W.I.R.E President Kim Bush. “He exemplifies the qualities we look for in our scholarship recipients, and we are excited to support his future endeavors.”
Clemmons expressed gratitude for the organization’s support. “Receiving this scholarship is an honor and a tremendous help in achieving my educational goals,” he says. “I am deeply grateful to W.I.R.E for this opportunity.”
Women in Rural Electrification was created as a nonprofit organization to foster interest in and understanding of the rural electric program and to improve the quality of life in rural areas. Members are wives of cooperative managers, board members, employees, employees themselves, and other women associated with electric co-ops in Kentucky. Over the past 28 years, WIRE has given more than $97,000 in Kentucky scholarships.
