May 17, 2025 - 12:30PM Update

Farmers RECC currently has approximately 2,400 members without power. Crews are working hard today, but restoration is going slowly as crews find more broken poles and damaged equipment. So far, crews have discovered nearly 25 broken poles throughout our service territory.

We remain optimistic that we will make a significant reduction in the number of outages today. For those you still without power, hang in there with us. We appreciate your patience and prayers! We know our members without power are frustrated, we are too. But we will not stop until we have everyone on.

Farmers RECC is being assisted by 24 crew members from Groves Electrical Services and from sister cooperative GreyStone Power Corporation in Georgia.

Several have asked why restoration is taking so long. Unfortunately, we are still finding broken poles and damaged equipment. Why didn't we find them already We provide power to part of 11 counties by maintaining more than 3,700 miles of lines and literally hundreds of thousands of poles. While we have predictive equipment on our system, we still must drive (or even walk) miles at a time, looking for damage. As we have shared before, power restoration is very labor intensive.

We reference our Outage Viewer frequently. Our Outage Viewer is a powerful tool, designed to give members real-time outage information during power interruptions. The guide on our website, found at farmersrecc.com/outages helps explain the symbols and information on our outage viewer.

For those without power, please look at you weatherhead/service connection. Any damage will need to be repaired before we can safely reconnect your power. The link will provide additional information. Who Owns What Equipment?,

In addition, we ask all members to avoid any contact with power lines. This includes tree or debris removal. As a reminder, always assume power lines are energized and any contact with them is extremely dangerous. Should you see any debris in contact with power lines, please report them to us at 270-651-2191.

Our crews are out and making progress! Hand with us members. We promise not to let up until the outage map is clear.

Our next update will be at 7:00 p.m.
